Lay Worship Leader

Barbara McReelis, shown between Rev. Paul Putman and Rev. Dan Yourkevich, has been recognized as a Licensed Lay Worship Leader following completion of the required course at Five Oaks.
The congregation presented her with a certificate at a special cerimony during the worship service on Sunday September 13, 2009.

Ordained Minister

Rev. Dan YourkevichThe Rev. Dan Yourkevich became the ordained minister of Port hope United Church in July of 2005. Dan is passionate about sharing a life giving experience of God’s Word through worship in all its facets. Especially important is that people feel part of a faith community in which they experience joy, love, peace and hope, every day of the week.

Dan has ministered in Saskatchewan and Ontario, serving in cities like Toronto or villages like Tavistock or Buckhorn. Dan’s family includes his wife, three grown children and most important two Border collies.

Jason Jestadt B.A., M.Mus.
Director of Music

Jason Jestadt Jason joined us in August, 2010. Jason is an accomplished composer and musician. (read more)

Prior to beginning his role as Music Director here, Jason served as Music Director at Pathways Church in Unionville (a mission church of the United Church of Canada), and previously, at Birchcliffe Bluffs United Church in Scarborough.

Jason lives in Toronto with his wife and two young children, where, in addition to the music ministry he nurtures at Port Hope United Church, he leads an active life as a freelance musician, composer, and music director.
